Timothy Kendall Edser’s art practice at this particular point of time is based predominantly based on a series of performance installations entitled Tension. West Space hosts the 10th performance in this series.
Throughout these works there is an investigation of masculinity and identity, localised within an exploration of the emulation of masculinity and the male body, relating to notions of identity as performative and the inherent passivity of the masculine gaze.
Tension centres itself around the performer’s body, both internally and externally. The body becomes a scientific discovery, where the body is mapped through its ability to move within space, objects, substances, and the environment.
Timothy Kendall Edser completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Honours in Fine Arts at the University of Queensland. He has held solo performances and exhibitions in Melbourne and Brisbane as well as participating in group exhibitions throughout Australia as well as in Italy.
