“Holiday Hours / 2024 Reflections”
21 Dec → 8 Jan 2025
West Space is closed for the holidays.
We return 11am, Wednesday 8 January for the last weeks of Akil Ahamat: Extinguishing Hope.
We wish you a restful break!
What a year.
In 2024, West Space presented four major commissions by Kyra Mancktelow, wani toaishara, Gabi Briggs and Akil Ahamat; a curated exhibition, Stranger than fiction; seven projects in the West Space Window; and 90+ artists in our Fundraiser.
We contributed to new research and sought ways to bring people together around art and ideas. We ate together, interrogated together, laughed together.
We held a symposium, performances, and discussions with artists from across the world. We held workshops for collective learning around experimental practice, arts writing, solidarity and resistance, and the climate emergency. We commissioned 12 new pieces of writing. We hosted four artists in our Studio, including two international visiting artists.
Thank you for being part of it.
Thank you to our dedicated Board and Artist Committee, our team of Gallery Assistants and Volunteers, our generous Supporters, and our ever-expanding community of artists, writers and audiences.
Here’s to 2025! Our exhibition program will be announced in the new year. It's a ripper.
