“Transparency”
Andrew Hazewinkel and Gosia Wlodarczak
19 Oct → 10 Nov 2012
Transparency combines newly commissioned projects alongside existing work by Andrew Hazewinkel and Gosia Wlodarczak.
Exploring the potentiality of different materials and the materiality within the gallery, Transparency activate sthe space with light, surface and texture.
Wlodarczak draws on fragments of her immediate experience directly onto the windows. This linear abstraction fills the space with a cathedral like presence as daylight transforms the work between surface and solid. Hazewinkel presents a trilogy of images framed against the backdrop of black sandpaper, including a large scale screen-print and sculptural works.
Andrew Hazewinkel is a Naarm/Melbourne based visual artist working across sculpture, video, photography and installation. His practice involves photo archive based activities exploring an interest in correspondence between photographic and sculptural practices.
Gosia Wlodarczak’s cross-disciplinary drawing practice, extends drawing towards performance, interactivity, installation sound and film. Drawing from her immediate environment Wlodarczak traces and re-traces moments in time creating fragmentary linear constructions.
