Sicks’& sevens
Christopher Dolman
19 Oct → 10 Nov 2012

Sicks’& sevens by Christopher Dolman seeks to reinvent and glorify iconic objects from the lost days of the artist's childhood, where Back to the Future, the Bones Brigade, He-man and Hulk Hogan starred. It attempts to balance the sharp sting of nostalgia for this lost world with a certain amount of neo-punk/kitsch humour.

Combining print media with ready-made and cast objects, remixing highbrow materials with ad-hoc methods, Sicks’& sevens uses scale, memory, slapstick and the futurities of the past, to make comment on notions of failure, the derivative nature of novelty and the ironic derogation of retro.

This project is supported of the Australia Council for the Arts New Work Grant for Emerging Artists.
