“Morlocks, Mole People…”
Adam John Cullen, David Mutch and Yake Weiss
10 Sept → 2 Oct 2010
Morlocks, Mole People… conjured confined and subterranean spaces that represented the antitheses of a civilization driven towards ever-expanding worlds, surging onwards, upwards, and outwards.
With contradictory influences, Adam John Cullen, David Mutch and Yake Weiss offer alternate versions of escape, signaling a movement inward, imagining what happens when spaces begin to contract.
Adam John Cullen is a Naarm/Melbourne based artist who predominantly works with sculpture. His practice stems from a personal narrative, with many of his works referencing places, people and events.
David Mutch’s practice encompasses sculptural installation, video, photography and sound. His work documents a search for secularly spiritual sites and experiences in contemporary urban environments.
Yake Weiss is an artist in Naarm/Melbourne.
