Materia Prima was an exchange project between West Space and Para/Site Art Space, Hong Kong. Three artists from Hong Kong worked on site at West Space for 3 weeks to construct installations that were then exhibited for 3 weeks. Then later in the year three Australian artists made work over 3 weeks at Para/Site that was then exhibited for 3 weeks.

Materia Prima represented the second West Space-Para/Site exchange project. Para/Site Art Space, Hong Kong 17 November – 31 December 1999 International Exchange with Para/Site, Hong Kong.
