Skye Kennewell ‘It Slipped My Mind’ 2006 Installation view: West Space, Bourke Street Mall, 2006. Photography by West Space
It Slipped My Mind is a full-scale model and installation inspired by both actual and imagined spaces previously inhabited by and later reconstructed from Skye Kennewell's memories.
Our memories of space are influenced not only by our actual experiences in them, but also by the way these spaces are imagined and mythologized in our prolonged absence from them. These memories may then be triggered by other spaces or experiences we encounter in the future.
Skye Kennewell completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2005, and was awarded the Roger Kemp Memorial Award at the VCA Graduate Exhibition.
