Join us to launch the debut publication by Phuong Ngo and Slow Burn Books.

The publication is a companion to Phuong Ngo: Inheritance, an exhibition reframing histories of occupation, conflict and displacement through ancestral and material transformations. The Inheritance photobook focuses on the intimacies and interconnections of a familial archive.

The launch will include a conversation between Phuong Ngo and Nikki Lam, with book signing and light refreshments following the conversation.

Co-presented by Slow Burn Books and West Space as part of Melbourne Art Book Fair 2025. The Inheritance Photobook is supported by Creative Australia's VACS Major Projects Commission. Co-founded by Nikki Lam and Scott Heinrich, Slow Burn is an online bookshop dedicated to connecting Asian artists, writers and publishers with international audiences.

Phuong Ngo is an artist and curator in Naarm/Melbourne. Ngo's practice is concerned with the interpretation of history, memory, and place as a form of comprehension for the present. Through an archival process rooted in a conceptual practice, Ngo seeks to find linkages between culture, politics, public and private histories.

Nikki Lam is an artist, curator and filmmaker in Narrm/Melbourne and Hong Kong. Working primarily with moving images and text, her work explores memory through contemplation of time, space and impermanence.
