West Space Window

Applications are now for the the 2027 West Space Window program. Artists receive support to present work in our micro-project space on the public façade of the gallery in Collingwood Yards.

What we offer

• Presentation in 2027;
• Artist fee of $650 to support time and materials for the creation of the work. West Space can support artists to seek additional funding for production, travel or freight costs;
• A writer engaged to produce an essay in response to your work for publication on our digital platform, Offsite; and
• Curatorial support and where possible, the development of a discursive program or workshop.

What we are looking for

• An attentive response to the Window site, consider it's public facing nature, local context in Yálla-birr-ang (Collingwood) and physical dimensions.
• Artists that are seeking an opportunity to test or develop an idea, process or phase of development.

About the West Space Window

• Previously an entryway, now enclosed by glass, this micro-gallery is on the balcony outside the West Space gallery and office on Level 1 of the Perry Street Building in multiarts precinct Collingwood Yards;
• The Window has two spaces the bottom bigger space measures 1025mm wide x 2035mm high x 310mm deep and the smaller higher space measure 745mm wide x 1020mm high x 310 deep. You can use both or one of these spaces.
• The site is covered by glass, equipped with power access, bluetooth speakers and illuminated 24/7 by fluorescent lighting.

Selection criteria

• Clear and compelling concept;
• Suitability for Window size and scale;
• Ambition and readiness to partake in the opportunity; and
• Conceptually rigorous artistic practice as demonstrated through support material.

Eligibility

The West Space Window is open to artists in this continent and surrounding islands, extending to Aotearoa. Artists living in Victoria are strongly encouraged to apply.

Seeking to redress historical imbalances, we will prioritise applications from First Nations people, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people, people with disability and people who are d/Deaf.
