Writing–
West Space has a remarkable history of writing and publication. This includes publishing 13 editions of the journal Dialogue (1996–2000) and the publications Making Space: Artist Run Initiatives in Victoria (2007) and Formation and Form (2003), a commemorative publication about West Space. West Space is currently working on the publication How to talk to girls in the mall, which will commemorate The West Wing project.
West Space has a bookshop which displays and sells art-related publications by artists and independent publishers.
West Space aims to support critical analysis of contemporary art practice and this is the basis of the West Space discursive program. We are very excited that our new site will afford us an opportunity to be more ambitious about West Space writing and publishing. We will have a dedicated Reading Room and Forum Space, and these spaces will host West Space’s editorial and discursive projects. To support this expanded program, West Space is assembling an Editorial Committee to support a culture of writing around West Space and to project manage writing and publication projects.
