The visible and the invisible

Sharon Billinge

6 Sep 2010 - 19 Sep 2010 · West Space · The West Wing

Billinge will photograph visitors and paint their images directly onto the walls of the space. These intimate yet repeated public interactions explore the duality of the mall as a place for people to be seen whilst becoming one of many. By temporarily fixing the outcomes of these encounters on something permanent, the painted figures become markers of presence and time spent in the gallery space within the context of a much larger body of people tracing and retracing journeys throughout the centre.

Time: Billinge will be in residence from 10-4pm every day (except Wednesdays and Thursdays). The project can be viewed all other times through the glass doors of The West Wing.

Closing celebration: Wednesday 15 September 6 – 8pm
