min. showcased the talent of emerging artists and incorporated the work of practitioners across the applied, fine and media arts, bringing together artists who share an interest in, and a tendency toward, working with a limited, indeed minimal, palette to culminate in works whose complexity belies their simple form.

The artists represented in min. provided something new by fusing late Modernism’s hard edge abstraction and post-modernism’s return to figuration in a gesture that bridges the perceived divide between these two tendencies/periods. In addition to the overarching theme of new minimalism, the artists were required to work with ‘white’ as a principle element in their composition.
