Dominic Redfern

Dominic Redfern is a video artist. He creates video works at the intersection of site, screen and identity. These interests are expressed with a very self-conscious approach to the technology and culture of video. The screen then is both subject and medium for his work, which endeavours to give critical expression to the complexity of everyday screen-mediated experience.
In 2011 Dominic will be involved in a large public artwork in sites across Melbourne, Shanghai and Tokyo as well as a solo show in Sweden and group shows at home and abroad. He will also travel to La Rochelle to undertake a project at its prestigious natural history museum. In 2010 his work was seen in the Perth International Arts Festival, in a solo show at Mildura Regional Arts Centre, and as a finalist in the ReelDance awards. Dominic is the chair of the board at WestSpace Gallery and he works as a senior lecturer in video art and as the studio coordinator for Media Arts at RMIT University. He lives and works Melbourne.
